From the Dispatch Board to the Truck: How Pest Control Route Order Reaches the Tech's Phone

A route built in the office is only worth something if it reaches the truck the same way it left the office. For a lot of pest companies, that handoff is a printed sheet, a group text or a phone call at 6:45am. Every one of those can go stale the moment something changes.

The Office Sets It

Route order gets set on the dispatch board, either by auto-routing or by hand, as covered in Setting Route Order by Hand When the Pest Control Tech Knows the Area Better. Once the order is saved, the office's part is done.

In PestBossPro, the tech app reads the same schedule the office sees. There is no export step, no sending a list, no “did you get the new route?” text.

The Tech Opens the App

The tech app runs in the browser on iPhone and Android and installs to the home screen, with no app store download. Techs log in with the company login plus a personal PIN, so every completed job, photo and application record is tied to the right person.

After logging in, the tech sees their day: the stops assigned to their truck, in the order set on the board. Stop one at the top, the last stop at the bottom.

What Each Stop Card Shows

Each stop in the list is a card with what the tech needs before they get out of the truck:

That is the difference between a route on a phone and a list of addresses. The tech knows the stop before they knock.

Working Down the List

The tech works through the stops in order. At each one, three buttons run the visit:

For completed treatments that used tracked products, the application record is kept with the job, including the mix, products, amounts, wind and temperature. If any are missing, the “need a chemical record” button on the schedule shows which completed treatments still need one.

Customers Hear About It Automatically

The tech app sends on-the-way and arrived texts as the tech works the route. Customers choose which alerts they want: the night before, when they are next, and when the tech arrives. The customer app shows their place on the route, like “You're stop 12 of 20 — the tech is 5 stops away.”

Because these alerts follow the route order, the order needs to be right. If the tech decides to swap two stops, that is usually fine. If they rearrange the whole day without telling anyone, customers get the wrong heads-up. It is worth agreeing with techs that big changes go through the office. The alerts are covered in On-the-Way and Arrived Texts on a Pest Control Route.

The Office Sees It Back

As the tech works, the office sees the day fill in. Completed jobs are done, with photos and notes. Skips come back with their reasons. Tech GPS shows on the office map, so you can see roughly where each truck is without calling.

That two-way picture is what makes same-day changes possible. A wasp call comes in at 11, the office sees Truck 2 is three streets away, adds the job to Truck 2's route, and the tech sees it on their phone.

Why This Beats Paper and Group Texts

A printed route sheet still has its place, especially as a backup if a phone dies. But as the main way to run the day, paper has problems: it does not change when the office changes the plan, it does not send customer texts, and it does not record what was applied.

Group texts are worse. Old routes stay in the thread, gate codes sit in plain view, and nobody knows which message is current. A route on the tech's phone, read straight from the board, has one version: the current one.
